Free and Premium

What each plan includes, subscribing, cancelling and refunds.

What each plan includes

Premium is the only paid plan, billed monthly or yearly.

  • Free: all of N5 with no time limit, hiragana and katakana, unlimited kana writing.
  • Free: 5 kanji to write and 5 practice sessions a day, a vocabulary, kanji and grammar dictionary, spaced repetition, pronunciation scoring, progress and streaks.
  • Premium: N4 to N1, specializations, unlimited writing and practice, the full dictionary and no ads.
  • On Free, a few discreet ads, never during a study session.

Getting Premium

A subscription follows your account everywhere: web, iPhone and Android.

  1. On the website, open the pricing page.
  2. Choose “Monthly” or “Annual”, then “Choose Premium”.
  3. Pay on the secure checkout page. Aaronsan never sees your card number.
  • Current prices are shown on the pricing page.
  • In the European Union, VAT is included. In Canada, GST and QST are added at checkout.

In the appIn the app, the subscription is billed by Apple on iPhone and by Google on Android. “Restore purchases” recovers a subscription you already paid for.

Managing or cancelling

You cancel where you bought.

  • Bought on the website: Settings, “My account”, “Subscription and billing”, then “Manage subscription” opens the secure billing portal.
  • Bought on iPhone: in the settings of the Apple device used to buy, at least 24 hours before the period ends.
  • Bought on Android: in Google Play.
  • Premium stays on until the end of the paid period. Nothing more is charged, and your progress is kept.
  • An annual plan is not refunded for unused months.

Refunds within 14 days

14 days from the first payment, no reason needed, once per person.

  1. Bought on the website or Android: on the subscription page, tap “Withdraw from contract here”.
  2. Type your full name, then confirm the withdrawal.
  3. A confirmation email arrives right away.
  • Website purchase: refunded automatically if everything checks out. Google Play purchase: reviewed by the team within 2 business days.
  • The money goes back to the original payment method, usually within 5 to 10 business days.
  • iPhone purchase: only Apple can refund. The “Request a refund from Apple” button opens its page.
