Chapter 6

Rewards and collection

EXP, onigiri, coins, streak, Konbini, stickers, achievements and ranks.

The five counters

On the dashboard, five counters sum up your gains: EXP, onigiri, coins, flames and stickers.

  • EXP: study points that add up forever.
  • Onigiri: the effort currency, for breaks, extra lessons and the Konbini.
  • Coins: earned from quests, spent at the Konbini.
  • Flames and stickers: runs of right answers and your collection.

On the webOn the website, click a counter: a small panel opens with a picture and what it means.

In the appIn the app, press a counter to see what it means.

Earning EXP

  • Card session: 10 EXP from 5 cards, +1 per right answer, +5 with no mistakes.
  • Writing: +2 per character done right, once per character per day.
  • Shadowing: +2 per attempt of at least 3 seconds.
  • Passive listening: +10 for at least 60 seconds, once per deck per day.
  • Every 7 days of your streak: +50. Quests and achievements give EXP too.

Onigiri

You earn onigiri by studying.

  • Welcome gift: 5 onigiri.
  • +1 per day you visit, to claim in the gift zone.
  • +1 per finished deck, once per deck per day.
  • +3 every 7 days of your streak.
  • At the Konbini: 10 coins for 1 onigiri, 3 times a day.

Coins

  • Welcome gift: 10 coins.
  • Many quest levels pay coins too.
  • Each EXP tier crossed: 6 to 16 coins.
  • Spend them at the Konbini: 10 coins for 1 onigiri (3 times a day), or a heart sticker to give for 10 coins.

Your Turbo streak

Your streak counts days in a row with at least one study activity. It has no upper limit.

  • A review, shadowing, passive listening or writing counts for the day.
  • Days follow your time zone and reset at midnight.
  • Three states: standby (0 days), charged (from 1 day), Turbo (from 7 days).
  • Every 7 days of your streak: +50 EXP and +3 onigiri.
  • Milestones at 7, 14, 30, 60, 120 and 365 days, then every 365 days: 60 to 1,800 EXP and an exclusive sticker.

Stamping your day

Each day with a study activity earns a mark on your streak strip.

  1. Finish one activity today: a review, shadowing, passive listening or writing.
  2. On the dashboard, press today’s square.
  3. The mark lands on the square and stays in your strip.

Streak freeze

A freeze keeps your streak alive through a missed day.

  • Buy it at the Konbini with onigiri. The price and the maximum you can hold are shown there.
  • You apply it yourself from the dashboard calendar: pick a missed day from the last 30 days, one freeze per day.
  • Protected days show a snowflake.

The Konbini

The app’s little shop, where you spend onigiri and coins.

  1. Open “Konbini”.
  2. Tap “Get” under an item.
  3. Check the cost and what you will have left, then tap “Confirm”.
  • On the shelves: streak freeze, coin exchange and a heart sticker to give.
  • The page also lists every way to earn onigiri, coins, EXP and flames.

The gift zone

Nothing is credited automatically: gifts wait in the gift zone, under the counters.

  • The onigiri for today’s visit.
  • The welcome gift: 5 onigiri, 10 coins and a welcome sticker.
  • Section and streak milestone stickers.

Stickers

An album on your profile that fills up as you study.

  • Welcome: given when you sign up.
  • Section: finish every deck in a section of your path.
  • Feat: each streak milestone.
  • Gift: the heart a friend sends you.
  • Four rarities: common, rare, epic, legend.
  1. In the gift zone, claim the sticker.
  2. Your profile opens and the card flips to reveal it.
  3. “See my collection”: the missing ones stay “Still hidden”.

Achievements

Goals with levels; every level you reach stays yours.

  1. Open your profile, then “View all” in achievements.
  • Reward: EXP, and sometimes a sticker.
  • Examples: “On fire” for your streak, and one achievement per level passed in a mock exam, from 200 EXP (N4) to 1,600 EXP (N1).
  • Some are limited editions or available until a set date.
  • Your profile shows your top 3.

Ranks

Your rank shows the level you are working on.

  • Everyone starts as “N5 student”.
  • Each passed mock exam at your current level moves you up: N4 student, N3 student…
  • Passing all five mock exams makes you “Sensei”.
  • Your rank shows next to your name and on your profile. The full ladder is in achievements.
